Meet Our Staff

Greetings! I have been the Executive Director here at Camp Matawa since March of 2003 and love it! I was a “Y brat” and grew up going to camp and being a camp counselor. I can’t imagine doing anything else besides working for this great organization and being able to have a positive effect on so many kids and families that we serve each year. I have two great kids, Brady and Ellie, who are both future campers!

Before coming to Matawa, I held positions as the Senior Program Director at YMCA Camp Kern in Ohio and as the Teen and Camp Director at the Southwest YMCA in Greenfield, another branch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee. I have enjoyed working with our campers, parents, board members and staff as we all work together to create the wonderful spirit that is Camp Matawa. Hi, I started at Camp Matawa in March of 2009 and really enjoy being part of the Camp Matawa team. I'm originally from England, having grown up not far from Sherwood Forest where I spent my child hood running through the woods pretending to be Robin Hood!!  I have two wonderful kids, Jayden and Liam. I have worked for the YMCA since 1993 having started with the YMCA of Greater New York at their summer camps (where I met my wife, who is now a teacher in Milwaukee), and over the years I have held many roles within the YMCA from summer camp counselor, to Outdoor Education Instructor, to Program Director at Matawa in 2000 and 2001.  Most recently I was the Director of Information Technology for the YMCA here in Milwaukee, so as you can see I have had a varied career so far. 

In the role of Director of Business Operations I am responsible for much of the behind the scenes work that makes camp a reality and the entire team works hard to make sure you have the best experience possible!!! I joined the Camp Matawa family in May of 2007 and could not be more thrilled. What an incredible place! Natural beauty and fantastic people, who could ask for more? I have been working in the camping profession for 15 years and am always eager to experience something new. My husband and I, along with our two amazing children, Wesley and Rebecca, moved here from Michigan where I worked as a Day Camp and School Age Child Care Director for the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit for the last six years. Prior to my time in Detroit I was the Outdoor Education Director for YMCA Camp Potawotami in Indiana for almost three years. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outside, watching movies, listening to music and reading. My family also really enjoys hockey - GO RED WINGS! I am so excited to have the opportunity to learn more about Camp Matawa and its staff and campers. I only hope that they will learn a little something from me as well! I grew up as a camper and counselor here at YMCA Camp Matawa. Through out the last few years, as CIT/LIT Director, Trekker Village Director and most recently an Americorps representative, I have had the opportunity to get to know so many amazing campers, staff and families and see the awesome changes happening here at camp. I am so excited to continue working at camp! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family in the Milwaukee area and hanging out with my "camp friends!" I joined the Camp Family in November 2007 as the Center Administrator. I have enjoyed working with the families, schools, groups and staff. I have two wonderful kids, Abigail and Joshua who enjoy going to summer camp every year. I enjoy taking time out of the office and helping out to make this a great camp. When I am not at camp I enjoy coaching Soccer and Baseball with my kids.
